“I’ve never felt as vulnerable as I did when the pandemic started spreading to people my age. For years, I’ve worried about both my health and my finances. I’d hoped I could continue supporting myself through my small social security check. We’ve all heard how seniors are at such high risk. Because of this, facing the future alone became really frightening. My health is worsening. My savings are dwindling. I have no family.
Then my pastor told me about the confidential Fellowship Program at Westminster Canterbury Richmond, and I discovered that Fellowship is for seniors like me – people who have served others but don’t have a lot financially. Through God’s grace, I qualified and just moved into this wonderful, safe and caring place. Even my healthcare needs are being met! I am so very thankful – but I worry about those who are experiencing the hardships I faced.”
