Happy Father’s Day!

Fathers are beloved at Westminster Canterbury. Starting on Friday, all across our campus, we will be celebrating Father’s Day and all the great Dads who are part of this community.

The Child Development Center will kick-off our Father’s Day celebrations with “Donuts with Dad.” Dads are encouraged to bring their kids to class on Friday to enjoy a donut, coffee, and special time with their little ones. All Child Development Center Dads will receive a special card or craft created by their children. Many Westminster Canterbury staff children attend the Child Development Center. Expressing the gratitude these employees share, one staff member said, “It’s so nice to be able to walk down the hall and hug my kids when I have the opportunity.  I’m even able to participate in their activities and special events when work permits.”

On Saturday, our Assisted Living and Memory Support areas will celebrate with events that include a cookout, pizza party and themed craft projects. On Father’s Day, there will be a campus-wide cookout with a menu featuring prime rib, beer brats, soft shell crabs and beer. That afternoon the Derbyshire Baptist Church Youth Choir will perform in the Sara Belle November Theater.

This weekend, many family members will come to celebrate their fathers, giving the gift of time together. That is the most important thing to Dr. William Blake, a Westminster Canterbury resident and retired minister. His advice to young dads is to spend time with your father and make time for your children, even when you’re busy.

Thank you to all the wonderful Dads and all you do to fill our lives with joy!
