Honor Someone You Love on National Grandparents Day

The intergenerational relationship between a grandparent or special friend and a child is so very important. “It takes a village to raise a child” as the saying goes, and older adults often play a big part in that. Whether sharing stories, teaching new skills, playing games, breaking a parent’s rules (shhh!), or just making time for a growing child, grandparents and friends create special memories that will last a lifetime.

In 1978, President Jimmy Carter declared the Sunday after Labor Day to be National Grandparents Day. It is a day to celebrate grandparents, great-grandparents, step-grandparents, or any other adults in the older generation that play a role in our children’s lives. Today, you have an opportunity to honor this special bond with a tax-deductible gift to the Westminster Canterbury Foundation. Your gift supports programming to help give our seniors the best life possible.

Every Westminster Canterbury resident who is honored will receive a card notifying them of your generosity. To make a gift in honor or in memory of a grandparent or special friend in your life, simply click here, or call (804) 264-6066.  Thank you!
