SUBJECT: COVID-19 Update – Independent Living Resident Tests Positive

DATE: November 7, 2020

Independent Living

This morning, November 7, Westminster Canterbury Richmond learned that an Independent Living resident tested positive for COVID-19 after being admitted to the hospital. We are working with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and actively tracing those who may have come into contact with this resident. Those impacted will be contacted directly. We anticipate that the number of potential exposures is low. We will provide more updates next week, including at a special Live Update on Tuesday at 3 p.m. on TV970.

Child Development Center

On Friday, November 6, Westminster Canterbury learned that the spouse of an employee tested positive for COVID-19. Their two children attend our Child Development Center. Those who have been identified as close contacts of the positive case have been appropriately quarantined at home following guidance from VDH and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). VDH also advises that we do not need to quarantine or close any of our classrooms, so we will continue to operate as we have been.

Westminster Canterbury follows the latest guidance from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), CDC and VDH in our response.
