National Nurses Week!
We celebrate our own.
Residents need them. Families depend on them. And we are celebrating them this week. Westminster Canterbury Richmond, in recognition of National Nurses Week, annually presents awards to exceptional nursing employees who perform many functions 24 hours a day to ensure all residents receive the care and concern they deserve. Our unique training program, The Westminster Canterbury Way, emphasizes everyday excellence, and there are two awards which take this mantra one step further.
George Morton Tabb established the Tabb Award through a gift to Westminster Canterbury Foundation in 1989 in memory of his wife, Frances May Tabb. The awards, recognizing service excellence, are presented each year to nursing assistants who are nominated by residents, family members and supervisors.
The Clinical Excellence Award was started to recognize a licensed nurse (RN or LPN) for outstanding clinical and leadership skills. The recipient of this award must demonstrate professionalism, compassion and patience. A role model for others, the winner should have a broad knowledge base, exemplary leadership abilities, excellent bedside manner and serve as a resource for staff, residents and families.
“All employees in Mary Morton Parsons Health Center, Assisted Living and the Jane Martin Roberts Wellness Center Clinic are eligible for these awards,” says Director of Clinical Services Laurie Youndt. “These awards are especially significant because the nominations come from residents, families or supervisors. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to recognize qualities in those who exemplify the best of the best in our caregivers and nurses.”
In coordination with the annual National Nurses Week, the program was held on May 11. All nominees were invited, as well as their families, other staff and our residents! Winners received a monetary award, certificate and a watch from Westminster Canterbury Foundation.
