Good health. Good life.

Wellness and vitality are priorities here.

Attending a Richmond Ballet performance at the Sara Belle November Theater, working at the Echo Shop and participating in the annual “Burning of the Greens” all require a certain amount of vitality. We know that wellness and liveliness equal an excellent quality of life here at Westminster Canterbury Richmond, and we make every effort to make this a priority.

There are many options available to our residents to help stay active, including our Aquatic Center, where fitness and fun are synonymous with activities such as water walking, aquatic balancing exercises or a daily swim in the warm, saltwater pool. Residents who are interested in a regular physical workout can visit the Jim Marable Fitness Center 24/7 or take a variety of classes from High Intensity Strength Training to Yoga.

When you roam around Westminster Canterbury, you might see residents playing engaging games on a touchscreen in special kiosks. These are part of the Dakim BrainFitness program, which helps to improve memory and concentration with intriguing exercises. The program takes just 20 minutes a day, three days a week, to fight cognitive decline.

The Episcopalian and Presbyterian leaders who worked together in the early 1970s to establish Westminster Canterbury Richmond made a commitment to service and generosity, and to the spiritual, physical, psychological and emotional well-being of its residents, making this place unique among continuing care retirement communities in the country today.

The ambitious commitment of the founding fathers extended not just to those with the financial means to pay their way but to a great number whose resources were limited and who would need financial assistance.
