So Much to Explore, Right at Home

One of the great joys of life at Westminster Canterbury Richmond is the remarkable variety of programs available to residents. Each season brings fresh opportunities to learn, reflect, explore, and be entertained—often without ever leaving campus. From inspiring conversations and meaningful spiritual programs to unforgettable performances and engaging outings, there’s truly something for everyone.

Our spiritual and wellness offerings invite thoughtful reflection and shared wisdom. This season includes a three-part exploration of Thomas Merton led by Rev. Brian Justice, the ongoing Embracing Life’s Seasons panel discussions, creative experiences like Lenten Prayer Painting, and special services such as Ash Wednesday. Programs like the Pastoral Care Women’s Conference: Seasons of Grace and book discussions such as Picturesque Palestine, Sinai and Egypt offer deeper connection through faith, art, and storytelling.

The Sara Belle November Theater continues to shine as a hub for world-class entertainment. Residents can enjoy Broadway favorites like Back to the Future and Little Women, musical tributes including The Linda Ronstadt Experience and Sail On: The Beach Boys Tribute, and exceptional performances by the Richmond Symphony, American Spiritual Ensemble, and Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Forum broadcasts and lectures featuring voices such as Sanna Marin, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Rev. Becca Stevens bring thought-provoking ideas and lively conversation to our stage.

Beyond campus, our outings program adds even more variety. Residents are heading out for Out to Lunch favorites like Beijing on Grove, Southern Kitchen, and Toast New American Gastropub, along with enriching excursions to the National Gallery of Art, The Chrysler Museum, The Wildlife Center of Virginia, and historic sites such as Westover and Richmond’s Slave Trail. Theater trips, antiques shows, and behind-the-scenes tours round out a calendar designed for curiosity and connection.

Whether your interests lean toward lifelong learning, the arts, spiritual growth, or simply enjoying great company and great food, Westminster Canterbury’s wide array of programs ensures there’s always something new to discover. We invite you to join in, explore often, and keep making meaningful memories together.
