Healthcare Excellence Expansion
Westminster Canterbury Richmond offers a full range of healthcare services to meet our residents’ needs at many levels – assisted living, memory support, Mary Morton Parsons Health Center, and our independent living clinic. Now, I’m excited to share that we are adding more services so that we can shift from reacting to sickness to proactively striving for wellness.
Society is built around managing sickness, not health. But our vision is for every resident to be healthy and independent for as long as possible! We want to delay transitions until a new level of care is required for residents’ safety. In addition to evolving our wellness and fitness programming to equip each resident to take steps to maintain their physical vibrancy, we are building our new home and community-based services agency, Westminster Canterbury Richmond At Home.
The main goal is to return residents to independence as quickly as possible after a health event. Research shows that superior medical outcomes are achieved when people are able to recover in their own home environment. And it makes sense. What you really need is to live successfully in your own home. After a medical incident, and once it is safe for you to move from a hospital or skilled nursing center, it is possible to receive customized treatment and therapy in the comfort and familiarity of your own home. Many of the services will be reimbursed directly through Medicare, while others may be purchased for a fee.
Once this program is fully operational and running smoothly for residents on our campus, we will expand to offer these services in the Richmond region. This is the next step in Westminster Canterbury’s quest to improve the lives of those we serve every day and ensure the best life possible for our residents. I look forward to sharing updates as this exciting work progresses.
